Sitges and Barcelona

Here are some pictures from Spain, finally!  They are random pictures I took on a walk around Sitges, except for one which is at Park Guell in Barcelona.  And of course I had to include one of  the pictures of Viggo Mortensen that I took at the photo shoot.

Update

Some things have changed since the last time I posted.  I did go to Barcelona/Sitges and had a wonderful time.  I couldn't blog about while I was there because we had to pay by the hour for our internet.  I do have pictures that I will post at a later date.  I had some amazing experiences there, like getting to sit in on/photograph interviews with Clive Barker, participating in a press photo shoot of Viggio Mortensen, lying on the beach of the Mediterranean Sea, and visiting the Picasso museum.

I had to drop my photography classes because I couldn't afford to not work full time and I couldn't do the class work while I was working full time.  I am still practicing on my own and hopefully can go back to school soon.  I think I went into a kind of funk once I dropped my classes.  I was disappointed in myself and frustrated that, once again, I had failed at something that was important to me.  After nursing my bruised ego for several months, I am now ready to pick myself up, dust off the negativity that had collected in my corners and start again.

Barcelona

After a year of hoping to be able to scrape enough funds together to buy a ticket and pay for a hotel, I have finally booked my flight tickets to Barcelona for October!  This will be my first time out of the country (other than a cruise I took to Mexico) and my first international flight.  I can't believe I bought the tickets, I am so not in a place where I have extra money for this AT ALL.  But prices fell almost $200 overnight, and my boyfriend was able to secure us 6 nights free stay with a friend at a hotel, so the signs were all pointing to go.  I can't wait to get out there and take some amazing pictures.  This definitely makes up for missing my reunion this weekend.

If anyone has any suggestions/must-see/do things, please let me know!!

What am I running from?

Whew, went running today and for some crazy reason decided to extend length to 5 miles instead of the normal 3, something I haven't done in a year!  I always feel great after, something I have to keep reminding myself while I'm running to keep me going to the end.

Actually, I know the "crazy" reason why I decided to run 5 instead of 3 miles.  Next weekend is my 10 year high school reunion, and since I've neglected my exercise routine for the past few months I figured I'd better go "balls to the wall" the week before and see if I can repair the damage done.  Silly, I know.  But while most (90%) of my high school friends have finished college, had a career, gotten married and started a family, I.....have not.  I have been in college pretty much since I graduated high school, working on a bachelor's degree. (Think Van Wilder, but less fun) At the same time I have been working at a pharmacy to pay for school, so sometimes I'd have to skip a semester or two in order to eat.  Combine that with indecisiveness on a career choice and you have, in my opinion, a shitty situation.  However small it may be, I can always take comfort in the fact that even though I'm not where I would like to be career wise, at least I haven't gained 50 lbs either!  Yes, not very Gandhi or mature of me, but hey, it's something.  Whatever helps you face the day, right?

These photos were shot downtown at dusk, when I usually like to jog.

First entry, just a little about me

Img_0330

This was one of the first pictures I took after I decided to officially pursue photography as a career.  It was taken with a simple point and shoot, as "manually" as I could.  Now, almost a year later I am finally enrolled in photography school scheduled to start in August.  I'm excited, anxious, scared and happy.

Ultimately I want to do fashion photography, but right now I am willing to do any kind of photo shoot for the practice.

In addition to starting school, this is also my first blog, and it feels a little weird.  I'm a pretty reserved person that's not used to sharing all my stuff to everyone without knowing them pretty well first.  So this should be a good exercise for me that will hopefully translate into my photos.
